LinkedIn Job Search Filters After Classic Search: What Still Works

LinkedIn is retiring classic job search. The filters AI search keeps, plus URL filters and Boolean that still work in classic search, tested in October.

01

LinkedIn is retiring classic job search.

LinkedIn’s help page on AI-powered job search says the new search is available to all members worldwide and that classic job search is being retired gradually, starting in September. Above classic results, LinkedIn shows a banner that reads, in part, “We’re gradually retiring classic job search starting in September.”

“Gradually” matters. On 18 October 2026 we could still run classic searches on a signed-in account in India, with the banner offering “Try AI job search”. Your account may switch earlier or later, so treat the classic-search tips below as dated.

02

The filters AI search keeps.

LinkedIn lists these filters on the AI search results page:

  • Date posted
  • Company
  • Experience level
  • Employment type
  • Remote
  • Easy Apply
  • In my network
  • Under 10 applicants

It says Verified job, sort options, and the Hybrid and On-site filters will come back later. Until then, write “hybrid” or “on-site” into your search description and check each posting’s workplace line.

03

URL filters that still work in classic search.

Classic search keeps its filters in the page address, so you can edit or bookmark them. We tested four on 18 October 2026; the others are the same parameters the URL builder uses but were not re-tested that day.

ParameterWhat it controlsValues18 Oct 2026
f_TPRDate posted, as a rolling window in secondsr86400 = past 24 hours, r604800 = past week, r3600 = past hourTested
f_EExperience level1 Internship, 2 Entry level, 3 Associate, 4 Mid-Senior, 5 Director, 6 ExecutiveTested (2)
f_WTWorkplace type1 On-site, 2 Remote, 3 HybridTested (2)
sortBySort orderDD = most recent, R = most relevantTested (DD)
f_JTJob typeF Full-time, P Part-time, C Contract, T Temporary, I Internship, V Volunteer, O OtherNot re-tested
f_ALEasy Apply onlytrueNot re-tested
geoId and distanceLocation and radiusLinkedIn’s location ID, and a radius in milesNot re-tested

Search the past hour. The date filter accepts any number of seconds, not only LinkedIn’s menu choices. With f_TPR=r3600 the chip still displayed “Past 24 hours”, but a search for data analyst roles in India returned five results, the newest posted 46 minutes earlier. Add sortBy=DD to put the newest first. It is a quick way to see roles while they are new.

04

Boolean still works in classic search.

The classic keyword box accepted quotation marks and NOT: "software engineer" NOT senior returned results for that exact title without senior roles. LinkedIn’s Boolean search help also documents AND, OR and parentheses, for example ("data analyst" OR "business analyst") AND SQL; we tested only quotation marks and NOT.

LinkedIn’s AI search help does not mention Boolean operators and describes searching in plain language instead. Worldwide Google Trends interest in “linkedin boolean search” fell by about 70% between the first and last quarter of the past year, which fits that change. Keep your Boolean strings for as long as classic search lasts, and turn them into descriptions for AI search.

05

Turn a Boolean string into an AI search description.

AI search reads a sentence. Put the constraints you used to encode with operators into plain words, and then apply the filters that remain.

Classic BooleanAI search description
"software engineer" NOT seniorSoftware engineer roles for someone with two years of experience, not senior or lead positions
("data analyst" OR "business analyst") AND SQLData or business analyst jobs that use SQL every day
"product designer" AND fintechProduct designer jobs at fintech companies, remote or in Bengaluru

Then read each result. AI search can surface adjacent titles, which is helpful for discovery but means you should check seniority and location before applying. The LinkedIn AI changes guide covers Job Match and Premium features.

06

Keep your searches when the switch happens.

  1. Copy your best classic search URLs into a note, with what each one was for.
  2. Write the AI search description for each one now, while you can compare results side by side.
  3. Turn on job alerts for the searches that matter, and check the alert’s filters after LinkedIn moves your account.
Questions

LinkedIn job search questions people ask.

Is LinkedIn removing classic job search?

Yes. LinkedIn’s help page says it is gradually retiring classic job search starting in September, and members see a banner inviting them to try AI-powered job search. On 18 October 2026, classic search was still available on the account we tested.

Does Boolean search still work on LinkedIn jobs?

In classic search on 18 October 2026, a query with quotation marks and NOT, such as "software engineer" NOT senior, returned filtered results. LinkedIn’s help page for AI-powered search does not mention Boolean operators, so do not rely on them in AI search.

How do I see LinkedIn jobs posted in the last hour?

In classic search, add f_TPR=r3600 to the search URL. The filter chip still says “Past 24 hours”, but in our test the results narrowed to jobs posted within the hour. Combine it with sortBy=DD to see the newest first.

Which filters are available in LinkedIn AI job search?

LinkedIn lists Date posted, Company, Experience level, Employment type, Remote, Easy Apply, In my network and Under 10 applicants. It says Verified job, sorting and Hybrid or On-site filters are coming back later.
