What the detector can—and cannot—recognize.
It checks three signals, all locally in your browser. First, the URL itself: provider-owned candidate domains (boards.greenhouse.io, jobs.lever.co, *.myworkdayjobs.com, *.taleo.net, *.eightfold.ai, and ~25 more) plus Greenhouse embed parameters like ?gh_jid= on employer domains. Job boards such as LinkedIn and Indeed are called out separately — the Apply button reveals the real system.
Second, page-source fingerprints: paste the page source or copied text and the detector scans for provider script hosts, apply links, and "powered by" footers. Third, employer names: a static list covers 140 large employers — a name match is a best guess, not live verification.
Some employers put an ATS behind their own careers domain. A URL alone may not expose the provider in that case. The detector returns “unknown” instead of trying to infer a system from a company name or page wording.
The domain tells you the ATS.
Most large employers host their public job pages on the provider's domain. These are the patterns the detector checks — the same ones you can eyeball in an address bar.

The application system changes the form experience.
Platforms and employers configure different controls, account steps and repeated sections. A URL can help identify the system; it cannot establish form length, password rules, current login choices or the outcome of an application. 01How do I know which ATS a company uses?
Check the URL of the apply page first — ATS-hosted postings sit on provider domains like boards.greenhouse.io, jobs.lever.co, or *.myworkdayjobs.com. If the company uses its own careers domain, open the page source and search for provider hostnames or a "powered by" footer, or click Apply and note the destination URL. This tool checks all three signals locally in your browser.
02What does myworkdayjobs.com mean?
It is a Workday recruiting domain, commonly configured for a particular employer. Account requirements, sign-in methods, form length and resume parsing vary. A URL does not show the active form or prove complete autofill support.
03What if the detector says "unknown"?
The employer likely uses a custom careers domain or a system outside the common URL patterns. Click through the Apply button and check the destination URL — that is the most reliable way to identify the real system. Unknown is a safer answer than a guess.
04Is a LinkedIn or Indeed link an ATS?
No — those are job boards. The posting aggregates listings; the employer's real applicant tracking system is wherever the Apply button sends you. The detector calls out job boards separately so you know to click through.
