What the checker evaluates.
The tool runs 12 checks on your resume text: contact information (email, phone), standard section headings (experience, education, skills), action verb usage, quantified achievements, resume length, outdated phrases, date presence, special characters that break ATS parsing, professional links, location (city/state for ATS filtering), and tab-based column layouts that scramble text extraction order.
If you upload a PDF, text is extracted in your browser using PDF.js (Mozilla's open-source PDF parser, the same engine used in Firefox). The extracted text appears in an editable field so you can review and correct any extraction errors before running the check.
What this tool cannot check.
This is a text-pattern checker, not a full ATS parser. It cannot evaluate your actual qualifications, visual design, or how a specific ATS will parse your file. PDF text extraction is good but not perfect — multi-column layouts, text in images, and unusual fonts can produce garbled text. Always review the extracted text before trusting the score.
A high score does not guarantee your resume will parse correctly in every ATS. For best results, also test your final file in the actual application system before submitting.
Unlike many ATS checkers, this tool does not require an account, does not upload your file to a server, and does not gate results behind a paywall. The PDF is parsed by JavaScript running on this page — the file never leaves your browser.

Your resume is never uploaded to any server. When you upload a PDF, the file is read into your browser's memory and parsed by JavaScript running on this page. The extracted text and the analysis happen entirely on your device. No file, no text, and no score are transmitted to Jobsistant or any third party.
The PDF parsing uses PDF.js, Mozilla's open-source library, loaded once when you upload a file. The worker script runs locally in your browser. When you close the tab, everything is gone.
Analytics may record that the tool was used, subject to your consent, but never the file name, pasted text, extracted text, score, or individual check results.
